Goats were one of the very first animal species to be domesticated, and are always a very popular part of the show.
Most modern Dairy goats are descended from the Bezoar Goat of the Middle East, and they are found all over the world now as different distinct breeds. From Europe we have the Saanen and British Saanen, pure white goats, the Toggenburg and Btitish Toggenburg, dainty chocolate brown and white goats, the British Alpine , a large elegant black goat with white markings, the Golden Guernsey, a dainty golden, sometimes long haired goat and the noble Anglo Nubian, with her Roman nose, drooping ears, and well, whatever colour!
From solid colours to mottled and spotted....there will be a goat for everyone to fall in love with!!
The South West Regional Breed Show for Anglo Nubian Goats is being held at the Royal Cornwall Show this year
