Cornish Young Farmers to tackle pasty eating challenge
Young Farmers from across Cornwall will be aiming to be crowned the fastest pasty eater at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show (6-8 June).
One member from each of 20 clubs affiliated with the Cornwall Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs will attempt to eat a large steak Cornish pasty, kindly supplied by Warrens Bakery, as quickly as they can.
Cornwall YFC chairman, Matt Hosken, said:
“We’ll be holding heats in the competition and the quickest five pasty eaters will go into the Grand Final where they’ll be given a Cornish cream tea to eat and the fastest will be crowned champion.”
The challenge will take place within the Cornwall YFC marquee at the show at 2pm on Saturday 8th June.
The successful rural youth organisation are aiming to draw attention to their ongoing drive to encourage more young people in Cornwall to join their local young farmers’ club.
“Our current #Project1000 campaign is all about trying to increase our membership in Cornwall to 1000. At the moment we have over 800 members, which is already an amazing number.
“Cornwall Young Farmers’ Clubs do so much in their local community including raising money for charities. Lifelong friendships are made and there’s opportunity to travel, gain new skills and have a lot of fun too.
“Wherever you are in Cornwall there will be a club nearby and anyone aged 10 to 26 is welcome to join us.”
