If you want to eat somewhere with “the wow factor,” there will be just one place to head for this June – the Royal Cornwall Show.
That’s because the double AA rosette award-winning Mannings Restaurant, based in the heart of Truro, will take up temporary tented residence within the members’ area at Cornwall’s largest annual event on the 7th, 8th and 9th June.
Those seeking corporate hospitality at the event have enjoyed a tremendous choice of fantastic food, drink and eating places since top Cornish restauranteur, Scott Young, took over the task of providing top class catering at the event in 2006.
This year Scott, operations director at Mannings Hotel, will be bringing his day job with him and raises the gastronomic bar even higher.
Scott, along with the 50strong team of experienced staff he will bring with him, will create a world buffet to be served within the under-canvas version of Mannings Restaurant during the show’s Thursday and Friday.
A smorgasbord, served with a trademark Mannings twist, will focus on the very best Cornish meat, poultry, fish, shellfish, dairy and fresh vegetables.
A “taste bud explosion” is promised for those who wish to indulge in something a little bit special when it comes to impressing valued clients at the show.
"We’ll draw on many cooking styles and influences to make our world buffet unique.
“There will be something for everyone to savour and our bar will be stocked with a selection of beers, wines and cocktails from around the world to complement the food.”
Those with a sweet tooth need not worry, the dessert area promises to be packed with irresistible dishes. Naturally, Callestick Farm Ice Cream and Rodda’s clotted cream will be on hand to pair with whichever option is selected.
The members’ bar will provide the usual welcoming atmosphere, serving up the best Cornish beer, cider and wine plus soft drinks.
Singapore slings, Espresso Martinis and Cornish Mojitos, created with Cornish spirits, will flow within another new feature for 2018, Mannings special new cocktail bar.
Besides the daily, invitation-only president’s lunches and the members’ restaurant, Scott offers the option to arrange bespoke corporate hospitality functions and events for 15 to 150 guests during the first two days.
“So much business is conducted at the show and we can entertain VIP clients with a gourmet experience within our stylish and comfortable five star venues,” adds Scott.
“Sharing the finest local produce combined with Mannings quality and service at the Royal Cornwall is something I am really looking forward to.
"With availability limited, advance booking for all of our corporate hospitality options will be essential, whether it’s to reserve a table in our restaurant or a bespoke event,” he added.

Christopher Riddle, show secretary, said that catering for the show’s members was a direct way of supporting Cornwall’s food industry.
